HOW TO REGISTER FOR WEB CLASSES:

The web-based courses are administered using the same protocols as other university courses, but they are not Web_CT courses. Degree-seeking ISU students must be admitted by normal procedures outlined in undergraduate and graduate catalogs. Registration may be done online.

Non-degree seeking undergraduate and graduate ISU students may be admitted to the university using the normal procedures. This is recommended for students who may wish to be formally admitted to a degree program at a later date. See the Catalog for details.

Part-time Undergraduate Students (non-degree seeking) may register for up to 7 credits per semester, and up to 32 credits total, without being formally admitted to the university. See the current Undergraduate Catalog for more information.

Part-time Graduate Students (non-degree seeking) may be admitted quickly to Unclassified Status and register for up to 7 credits per semester. See the current Graduate Catalog for more information. These students must provide proof of a bachelor's degree. Please contact the Office of Graduate Studiesfor information and enrollment.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING EXAMS:
Some courses, including most WebCT courses, use on-line exam formats (usually the questions are text-only and answers are text-only).Hard copy exams are used for these courses, because most science classes rely on diagrams, charts and pictures for accreditation purposes. Each exam will be proctored, at a learning center, university department, or through an individual. You MUST contact the instructor by e-mail or phone to arrange a contact person or suitable location, i.e., a proctor, other than yourself who would agree to receive exams in the mail and present them to you.The proctor will have to be contacted initially by you in order to get his/her permission. The proctor does not need to be personally present the entire time you take the exam as long as the room is free of other traffic, etc. Instructions will be provided with each exam packet; however, the proctor may contact the instructor for additional information.Once you have taken the exam in a secure area, that person will seal it and return it to us in the self-addressed stamped envelope provided.

The Following are Acceptable Exam Proctors:

IN-SERVICE EDUCATORS:Your principal, or other supervisor, or someone designated by your principal or immediate supervisor. This may be a secretary or office clerk. If you have no immediate supervisor in your work area, a co-worker will suffice.

HOME-SCHOOL TEACHERS and STUDENTS, and NON-ENROLLED STUDENTS:The local community librarian or an official (as above) in the school system. If you are incapable of leaving your home, please contact your instructor to make special arrangements that follow ADA guidelines.Students with disabilities who wish to have accommodations provided by the University must self identify.Contact your instructor.

STUDENTS at OTHER INSTITUTIONS: Most schools, especially extended campuses that offer distance learning courses, have a proctoring service available. If an official proctoring area or service is not available, then simply request that this duty be performed by a teacher, advisor or other person with knowledge of your program of study. This option is often important for students who wish to transfer credits to another program and their advisors would like to have additional confirmation of web course content (i.e., they will be allowed to peek at exam questions with the instructor's permission).

Please submit the proctor's name, address, phone #, e-mail address, office hours, and any other information that may be important (such as "will be gone October 24-28," etc.).

EXAMS MAY BE TAKEN AT ISU OUTREACH CENTERS:
