GEOSCIENCES STUDENT COMPUTER LABORATORY

The student computer lab is located next door to the DML research lab and centrally located in the geosciences department. The Student/Teaching lab is for classes that require the use of computers such as geostatistics and remote sensing, and others. It is set up with the 14 workstations facing the front of the room in classroom style with the instructor workstation at the front of the room. There is a dry erase board at the front of the room along with a built in screen, LCD projector and overhead projector for presentations. The lab may be reserved by faculty and teaching assistants to enhance their classes.

When the lab is not reserved for classes, it is open to all students majoring in geosciences for personal work. Check with administrator for a log in.

The lab features thirteen IBM and two MAC style terminals. Microsoft Office Suite, Arcview 3.2, Freehand 8, Adobe Acrobat Reader, Netscape and Microsoft Explorer web browsers, and other software packages as needed.

Ben Nickel is the Technical Administrator for the Physical Science Building. He keeps the labs up and running for Geosciences, Physics and Math Departments.
