The "Digital Mapping and Research Laboratory" (DML), is primarily devoted to the success of graduate students using state of the art research facilities in combination with faculty and staff help, and collaboration with other students.

Graduate students produce geologic maps from start to finish with help from laboratory staff, many which are offered for sale by the Idaho Geological Survey.

The lab is equipped with PC's and MAC's with software such as ArcMap, ENVI, Photoshop, Microsoft Office Suite, and others as needed. There are scanners, digital cameras, portable LCD projectors, pc laptops, a Calcomp large format digitizing table, and GPS units. Several printers are available as well as a 36"- wide HP-Plotter for printing large maps, posters, etc. Some of the equipment can be checked out and used by geology faculty and students as needed for presentations and meetings.
