The Devonian Ocean Floor
Structure of Devonian Coast
What is the known geology of the Devonian ocean floor?
Before the bolide struck, the Devonian ocean floor in Nevada was rather normal, transitioning from shallow marine to deep marine environments as you moved westward. Evidence for this is displayed within the various limestones and marine fossils that point towards shallow or deep environments. Overall, the ocean floor was rather consistent during this time and did not include major changes in water depth along the ocean shelf.
